Before we all head off for a well-deserved summer break – which in Provence rhymes with pétanque, pastis, siestas, and the hum of cicadas – we wanted to share with you the latest ILCB news.
We are proud to celebrate two honorary members of the ILCB who have been awarded a Honoris Causa Doctorate by Aix-Marseille University: Professor Usha Goswami (University of Cambridge), a member of our International Advisory Board who will visit the ILCB for three months next year, and Professor Martin Pickering (University of Edinburgh), an honorary member involved in many of our projects. The official ceremonies will take place next year, we are already delighted and honoured by this recognition.
After the summer break, we will also welcome three new members to the ILCB:
• Philippe Albouy, who will join us at IMERA as ILCB-IMERA chair;
• Olga Kepinska, awarded a permanent CNRS position at the LPL;
• Simon Thibault, who has obtained our two-year postdoctoral position.
Our ILCB Summer School will take place in the first week of September. Once again, with more than 115 external applications, the summer school continues to attract participants from all over the world.
This will be the last year it will be hosted at the CIRM, located on the Luminy campus at the entrance of the Calanques National Park. Since the CIRM will no longer allow us to organise the summer school at this exceptional venue, we are currently looking for a new location for future editions. If you have any suggestions for places with lecture rooms and amphitheaters that can accommodate up to 150 people, please let us know.
We wish you all a wonderful and relaxing summer break. We look forward to seeing you back at our Welcome Back Garden Party at the LPL on Friday, October 10th (save the date!) to greet our new members and PhD students.
Until then, take good care and enjoy the summer! |
