March 29th: ILCB's collective multidiciplinary workshop
ILCB's monthly newsletter N°34 - March. 15th, 2024
Institute of Language, Communication and the Brain Institute of Language, Communication and the Brain
Bringing together experts in linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, medicine and computer science to understand and to model how language functions.

Dear members of the ILCB community,

It was fantastic to see so many of you last Friday for Anne-Lise Giraud’s terrific talk on oscillations in speech and language!

But don’t go anywhere… you can right away register for the ILCB workshop organised by our PhD and postdocs! On March 29th, you’ll learn about language development, comparative cognition, communication, speech and music, machine learning models, and much more. Read more and register on our website.

We just released our annual postdoc call. There are two postdoc positions on any topic that has to do with language, communication, and the brain. As always, interdisciplinary projects involving several ILCB teams are preferred. Further details are available online.

You can also check out the ILCB summer school webpage which has been updated for the upcoming 2024 edition. ILCB members will soon receive specific instructions to register.

I look forward to seeing you again at the end of the month at our ILCB workshop.

Best whishes,

Johannes

Large Language models (LLM) offer new avenues for research on language. Does that mean that small models are on a dead-end street?

Quote of the month

"Si la basse joue avec la batterie, c'est ennuyeux. Mais si la basse, des fois, joue à contre-temps, vous avez tendance à bouger pour produire le son qui ne s'est pas produit au moment du temps."
