Bringing together experts in linguistics, neuroscience, psychology, medicine and computer science to understand and to model how language functions.

Dear members of the ILCB community,

We are extremely proud that two very active ILCB members have been awarded with a prestigious CNRS talent medal. Isabelle Dautriche (LPC) received the bronze medal 2023, which recognizes the early contributions of a promising researcher. Thierry Legou (LPL) received the crystal medal 2023, which is awarded to research support staff for their creativity, technical mastery, and sense of innovation. Each year, these CNRS talent medals are awarded to researchers and staff who make an outstanding contribution to the institution's dynamism and reputation. Congratulations Isabelle and Thierry! Where your talents and the needs of the world meet, there is your calling.

Please be reminded that our ILCB PhD call is open. There are 3 open positions. Any member of the ILCB who wants to attract potential PhD students can send us a pre-project to be posted on the internet site. If you already have a potential PhD student, you don’t need to submit a pre-project.

We also launched another postdoc call for a person to be hired after the summer. The deadline for applying is June 15th.

Finally, if you are interested in learning more about the decisions that are taken by ILCB’s executive board (“conseil de direction”), we have decided to put the reports of these monthly meetings on our website. In the last report, you will find details about the new, targeted ILCB email lists, and much more information.

Best wishes,

Johannes

Enriched learning: behavior, brain, and computation

The presence of complementary information across multiple sensory or motor modalities during learning, referred to as multimodal enrichment, can markedly benefit learning outcomes. Why is this? Cognitive, neural, and computational theories of enrichment attribute the benefits of enriched learning to either multimodal or unimodal mechanisms.
