Dear members of the ILCB community,

Welcome back to the new academic year, which has started with yet another edition of our ILCB summer school. More than 120 participants attended the classes and listened to a wide range of excellent keynotes: From breathing and language development to reward systems in language learning and neuro-computational poetics. The pictures and the quote below, from one of our keynote speakers, illustrate this diversity.

For those of you who missed the social event at the summer school, you have a second chance... We are organizing a welcome-back-lunch-party on Friday the 27th of September in the gardens of the LPL. The morning will start with talks from our three ILCB IMÉRA residents: Professors Susanne Fuchs, Antoni Rodriguez-Fornells, and Peter Simor. 

And, looking forward, the 2025-2026 IMÉRA call has just opened. If you have colleagues that might be interested, please forward them the link. 

We have fixed the date for our annual scientific retreat, which will be held again on the Porquerolles Island from April 22nd to April 25th 2025. Please register only when you are sure to come because the number of participants is limited. If you are not sure, there are always last-minute vacancies. Nadéra Bureau will send some information shortly.

Our Cognitive Science Master ("MaSCo") has started last week. We are delighted to welcome 34 students, including 7 from abroad: Guatemala, Brazil, United States, Morocco, and Turkey. Professors Marieke Longcamp (CRPN) and Noël Nguyen (LPL) have taken the lead of the program helped by an excellent dynamic pedagogical team. Many (many!) thanks to prof. Bruno Torresani (I2M) for directing the program during the past years.

Babylab's research workshop

Every year, the members of the different babylabs across France organize two half-day meetings. The goal is to consolidate the community dedicated to the study of babies by bringing together researchers, professors, engineers, and students that conduct cognitive research on infant development in France. 

For the first time, the event will be held outside of the Paris region, at Aix-Marseille Université, which boasts two babylabs: Babylab d'Aix en Provence and the new Labo des Minots in Marseille.

The event is organised by two laboratoires (CRPN and PsyCLE) and supported by UFR ALLSH, CRPN, ILCB and the H2C2 platform.

The scientific program will include oral presentations from all participating laboratories, providing an overview of current developmental research in France. A range of themes concerning early development will be addressed, including language, music, sensory-motor and social cognition.
